Louisiana Recap

Sunday, May 1, 2011

Louisiana was a bit of a culture shock for us, it is really different than Utah. The culture, people and the manor of speech were so different that it took us a bit to get used to. Louisiana is such a different atmosphere it is worth at least one visit. Here are some of our favorite places to go and things to see in New Orleans, Louisiana:

- Take a history tour in The Garden District

- Take a history tour in The French Quarter

- Enjoy the architecture in the French Quarter

- Lafayette Cemetery 1and 2

- Take an Airboat Tour in the swamp

- See Jackson Square

- Eat at Café Beneigt

- Take a Steamboat Tour on the Nanchez

- The Houmas House Plantation

- The Nottoway Plantation

New Orleans was fun, but make sure not to go during Mardi Gras, because there are way too many people at that time.

Houston, Texas Recap

Texas was our first stop on the map, but with it being 80 degrees in January we wouldn’t stick around for summer. Houston is not what you picture when you think of Texas, there aren’t too many country folk around and it is green with lots of trees. Here are some of the highlights of Houston and where we would go if we visit again:

- Williams Water Wall

- NASA

- George Ranch Historical Park

- Bayou Bend

- The Beer Can House

- (Galveston) Moody Mansion

- (Galveston) Bishops Palace

- Driving around the National Parks above Houston

Texas was fun and these places are definitely worth a visit.

Georgia Recap

We had a wonderful time Georgia, it was beautiful to visit in the spring. I don’t think we could live there year round though, because the humidity seems to zap energy. We're just not used to it, but maybe we could get used to it if we were there longer. Here are some of the highlights of Georgia:

Atlanta
- CocaCola Factory
- The Aquarium
- CNN Headquarters
- Stone Mountain Park
- Georgia Historical Center (Swan House)
Macon
- The Hay House
- St Joseph’s Cathedral
Milledgeville
- The Old Governor’s Mansion
- (Eatonton) The Reynolds Plantation
- Boat around Lake Sinclair
Savannah
- The Roundhouse Railroad Museum
- and take a tour through Savannah

Georgia was beautiful, we recommend visiting! Fun Stuff!
